Some of you may have noticed a lack of submissions the last few days. Some of you may even have rejoiced that little fact, finally a bit of quiet on their
On the one hands the trains get me home rather late, which means I have less time in the evenings to do much PSE work. On the other hand the Haarlem Jazz Festival started Wendesday. Yesterday I was there with a friend and the two of us enjoyed various bands and beers. The music went from popular jazz, to dixieland to jazzy African rythms and the mood was great.
It's a free festival, with a main venue on the Grote Markt, side venues on half a dozen stages in other spots of the town center and then more in various bars and cafes. I love to look at the people while there, the slight glare of phone displays as people send eachother text messages, the glow on the displays of cameras or phones used as such.
I love the way the crowds will move, suddenly part, showing you someone, lovely, beautiful or downright ugly somewhere in the distance, then close in again, blocking the view. It's wonderful to see old and young folks, parents with children, grandparents, of all layers of society, creed and colour come together to enjoy music.
It will last until Sunday.
Yes, I did bring a camera
