Minor flooding

Sun Aug 14, 2005, 8:40 AM
When I came home Friday, our garden looked distinctly biblical.

I'd notced the severe rain earlier. It was hard to miss as the day turned into near-night, but when I came back there was sunlight, bright blue skies and fluffly clouds. The garden however, was almost completely flooded. A few drowned bugs were floating on the surface, the sound of dripping water was still to be heard, and the deck, which was still in the sun was steaming. I guess there were 3-4 inches of water standing on the lawn. The frogs could have practised swimming under water across it's whole length!

I spent some time wading across, and taking pictures of the reflections, of little flying bugs and water on plants. Some how it was a magical ;)

Then Saturday the waters rose again, and fell... only to be rising again as I type. Summer...hasn't been all that good this year.

Hehehe. With the sun of the last two days, the ground is now merely soggy. I hope to take a lawn mower in there this weekend...

Actuall... it was. Now the water has receded, the grass looks definitely...frumpled. Hope I can use the lawn mower this weekend.

 A true photographer, wading to take some interesting images of relections......I can just imagine.

I too think I've missed the summer here, we went out to a pubs beer garden for our sunday lunch only to have to scurry away when the rain came. One family just put up there umbrellas, made me smile....it was just so British "stiff upper lip"....its summer therefore WE are going to eat outside regardless of the ran

I bet your frogs are happy :D
