I'd notced the severe rain earlier. It was hard to miss as the day turned into near-night, but when I came back there was sunlight, bright blue skies and fluffly clouds. The garden however, was almost completely flooded. A few drowned bugs were floating on the surface, the sound of dripping water was still to be heard, and the deck, which was still in the sun was steaming. I guess there were 3-4 inches of water standing on the lawn. The frogs could have practised swimming under water across it's whole length!
I spent some time wading across, and taking pictures of the reflections, of little flying bugs and water on plants. Some how it was a magical
Then Saturday the waters rose again, and fell... only to be rising again as I type. Summer...hasn't been all that good this year.

I too think I've missed the summer here, we went out to a pubs beer garden for our sunday lunch only to have to scurry away when the rain came.
